HCM City is expected to generate 265,000 new jobs next year, 57.7 percent of which are for female workers, said Tran Anh Tuan, deputy director of National Centre of Labour Market Information and Forecasting.

Tuan added that export processing zones (EPZs) and industrial parks (IPs) will need 30,000 placements in the areas of electricity-electronics, garments, services, mechanics, and food and seafood processing.

According to the National Centre for Labour Market Information and Forecasting in HCM City, around 30 percent of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) have suspended their operations for lack of capital and a large number of workers, mostly skilled workers, have remained out of work so far.

Hoping from job to job is a common occurrence among 30 percent of total enterprises’ workers. They are mostly unskilled workers in the areas of garment and textile, mechanics, electronics, construction, sales, and services.

However, the rate of employment at enterprises in the city has increased by 13.69 percent compared to last year in order to meet the demand for new recruitment and ensure the stable development of production and business.

This year, HCM City has fulfilled its planned target of generating 265,000 jobs.
