The city government has directed the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Department of Transportation and the Police Agency to enhance order and security at tourist sites in the city, regularly check and handle robbery, overcharging and fraud against tourists.

In particular, the city authorities also instructed relevant bodies to set up a hotline to quickly receive and resolve information and complaints from visitors; to mobilize local people to build a civilized style in living; and to speed up the implementation of the tourism development plan 2020-2030.

According to statistics from 10 hotels and 10 major tour operators in the city, 55 robberies of foreign visitors were recorded in 2012.

The HCM City Department of Foreign Affairs also received 222 complaints and diplomatic notes on the state of robbery and home burglaries involving foreigners last year. The HCM City police agency recorded 117 foreigner-related cases in 2012 and most of them are robbery.
