The culinary event, organised by the HCM City Tourism Association, Sài Gòn Professional Chef’s Guild, and Việt Nam Culinary Conservation, Research and Development Centre, is aimed at honouring the culinary masters on the occasion of International Chefs Day that falls on October 20.
Skilled chefs and culinary artists would make specialties from 63 cities and provinces across the country, offering visitors unique cuisine experiences, said Nguyễn Thị Khánh, president of the HCM City Tourism Association.
A food map made from 126 typical dishes of localities would be introduced at the event as part of efforts to promote Vietnamese culinary excellence, Khánh said at an announcement ceremony for the festival last week.
Hundreds of chefs would participate in creating the food map which is expected to set a new record, she said.
A national record was set for the creation of the first Vietnamese food map made from 63 typical dishes last year, she added.
Several activities would be held during the festival, including cooking demonstrations with the participation of renowned chefs and music performances.
The festival is expected to attract 50,000 visitors. —VNS
