VietNamNet Bridge – Quang Trung Software City (QTSC) will join hands with Ho Chi Minh City Computer Association (HCA) to hold the Vietnam IT Outsourcing Conference (VNITO) between October 14-16 this year in HCM City.

VNITO 2015 is the largest conference for IT outsourcing in Vietnam. It is expected that representatives of over 150 multinational companies and 200 IT outsourcing (ITO/BPO) enterprises present in Vietnam will be attending to exchange views and seek business opportunities

According to a 2015 report by Tholons, a leading strategic advisory firm for global outsourcing and research, Ho Chi Minh City ranks 18th and Hanoi 20th among the top 100 most attractive cities for software outsourcing in the world.

Vietnam also tops the global outsourcing location index for the first time, in business process outsourcing (BPO), according to the latest research released by global real estate adviser Cushman & Wakefield.

Deputy CEO of QTSC Lam Nguyen Hai Long said that Vietnam was very competitive compared to other global locations, for five main factors.

First, Vietnam achieves and maintains trust by technology firms and large multinational corporations around the world such as Intel, Samsung, LG, Renesas, Foxconn, Fujitsu, Canon, Panasonic, all of which have set up manufacturing bases in the country. Other big players, such as HP, Toshiba, NEC, Panasonic, Sony, Sharp, Hitachi, Boeing and Deutsche Bank are also moving their R&D activities to Asia, in particular, to Vietnam.

Second, Vietnam possesses an ever-increasing skilled labour force with more than 40,000 engineers graduating every year from 290 universities across the country.

Third, the government’s open-door policies are attracting and encouraging investments in high-tech and software parks, including special incentives for skilled labour and other tax incentives.

Fourth, despite rising costs of offshoring services experienced in recent years, Vietnam has retained its advantage over India and Eastern Europe.

Finally, the inflation rate below an annual 10 per cent can create an important competitive edge for Vietnam in the outsourcing industry.

According to chairman of TMA Solutions Nguyen Huu Le, Vietnam is a very attractive software outsourcing destination as well as an effective alternative to India. The country is among the top five outsourcing destinations in the world, namely China, Russia, Poland, Argentina and Vietnam.

“To boost the development of outsourcing sector in Vietnam, we need to improve IT-training both at universities and business enterprises. The government should introduce policies to promote the country as an outsourcing destination, attracting big names in ITO/BPO from English speaking markets and Japan to hire outsourcing companies in Vietnam.”
