The tournament will include eight national teams divided into two groups, Deputy Director General of the Voice of Việt Nam (VOV) Trần Minh Hùng told a press conference in HCM City on Saturday.

The Vietnamese futsal team is in Group B with Malaysia, Australia and Indonesia, while the other group includes Thailand, Myanmar, Timor Leste, and Cambodia.

Eight teams will compete in a round robin format that will decide which two teams from each group will enter the semi-final round.

The tournament serves as a qualifying round for the Asian Futsal Championship. The three top teams of the tournament will be able to directly enter the championship. 

Vũ Quang Huy, head of the organisation board, said: "Việt Nam is in a good form, and young players are adapting to the playing style of the head coach Miguel Rodigo. They have a huge chance to go to the Asian Futsal Championship."

This is the fourth time that Việt Nam has hosted the tournament, which is being held by VOV and Việt Nam Football Federation (VFF), and sponsored by HD Bank.

This is the second time that HD Bank has been the tournament sponsor. In September, HD Bank and the tournament's organisation board organised the National Futsal Championship. – VNS
