The polluted Xuyen Tam canal will be dredged.

At the HCMC People's Council meeting on December 7, HCM City’s Vice Chair Phan Thi Thang presented a report on investment in the two projects.

Accordingly, the project to dredge, improve the environment and build Xuyen Tam canal will run from Nhieu Loc - Thi Nghe canal to Vam Thuat river, passing through Binh Thanh and Go Vap districts.

This project has total capital of over VND9,600 billion. It will be divided into two phases, 2021-2025 and 2026-2030.

The HCM City-Moc Bai expressway will be implemented in the 2021-2025 period, at the cost of VND5,936 billion.

The 50km expressway will have 4 lanes, and a design speed of 120 km/h. It will be developed under the form of public-private partnership. The investor is expected to recover investment capital after 18 years. The state will support the cost of compensation and site clearance.

According to the plan, the procedures for making, appraising and approving the project's pre-feasibility study report will be completed in Q3/2023, then the investor will be selected in Q2/2024. The site clearance will be completed in the next two years and the project will be completed from 2024 - 2027.

The project goes through HCM City and Tay Ninh province, but HCM City is assigned to take charge. The work is very important as it will help complete the transport network of the Southern Key Economic Zone.
