Major hospitals in Hanoi and HCM City are always overloaded.

Accordingly, from 2013 to 2015, six nucleus hospitals including Gia Dinh People’s Hospital, Tu Du Obstetrics Hospital, HCM City Orthopaedics Hospital, Children's Hospitals 1 and 2 and Tumor Hospital will set up 13 satellite hospitals in the eight provinces of Ninh Thuan, Khanh Hoa, Can Tho, Lam Dong, Tien Giang, Long An, Dong Nai and Ca Mau.

The HCM City authorities have proposed the Ministry of Health to provide more than VND30 billion ($1.5 million) and the eight related provinces to supply nearly VND245 billion ($12 million) to build these hospitals.

Overload is a big problem at major hospitals in Hanoi and HCM City. Building satellite hospitals are considered an effective way to handle this situation.
