VietNamNet Bridge - After three weeks of meeting with voters before the 5th session of the National Assembly (NA), which opens today, May 20, the NA delegation of HCM City has acquired hundreds of comments across all sectors.

Many voters expressed anxiety about the increase of a crime in recent time. Many cases caused serious consequences, especially the rise of crime of juvenile age. Voters asked the city authorities to step up the fight against crime to ensure the peaceful life of the people.
In addition to increased crime, traffic accidents also made people worried. The negative phenomena related to driver license examinations and vehicle inspections ... were considered by the voters as the causes.
Another issue that many people made comments through many parliamentary sessions -- is to review the construction of the Long Thanh Airport. According to HCM City voters, building this airport in the present time is unreasonable and wasteful. Instead, the authorities should expand and upgrade the existing airports such as Tan Son Nhat, Bien Hoa, Can Tho and Lien Khuong to bring about greater economic efficiency in accordance with the development direction of the city.
HCM City people also expressed concern and anxiety over difficult economic situation, the bankruptcy of many businesses, the rise of unemployment and the prices of essential commodities.
HCM City people were also very interested in the vote of confidence and asked the National Assembly deputies to fulfill their missions and powers in this work, to make the vote of confidence openly and transparently.
Before the turmoil of the gold market, people suggested the state to have effective solutions to manage the gold market, with the policy of not encouraging investment in gold, narrowing the gap of gold price between the domestic and the world market, and to have plans on national gold reserve in case of necessity.
Many voters asked the NA to conduct supervision of bauxite projects in the Central Highlands, to assess the overall effect of the projects and to strictly monitor foreign workers of these projects in order to ensure security and social order.

Regarding the East Sea, HCM City people suggested the state to take more drastic moves, step up public diplomacy, firmly maintain maritime sovereignty, enhance budget for national security, promote marine economic development and give more support for fishermen. The maritime patrol force should be organized in time to protect property and life for fishermen.
In the draft revised Land Law, according to HCM City voters, the state power is too broad, including the right to revoke land, to fix land price and to settle land disputes. Therefore, it is necessary to establish an appropriate monitoring mechanism, strengthening the oversight role of elected bodies and the participation of the people in order to avoid abuse of power.
Voters also proposed to have a mechanism to determine land prices that are close to market price to ensure the interest of the people whose land is revoked. Many voters recommended to not revoke land for socio-economic development and mining projects. In these cases, land must be purchased based on the market price.
