VietNamNet Bridge – HCM City authorities have asked the government and the Ministry of Home Affairs’ permission to appoint one more vice chair for each of the nine districts in the city.

Minister of Home Affairs Nguyen Thai Binh met with the HCM City Department of Home Affairs to consider the proposal on March 12.

The nine districts that need one more vice chair include Binh Tan, Binh Thanh, Go Vap, Tan Binh, Tan Phu, Thu Duc, District 12, Cu Chi and Hoc Mon. These districts currently have one chair and three vice chairs.

The HCM City Department of Home Affairs says that these districts need one more vice chair because they have population of more than 400,000 people, which tends to rise in the future. These districts also have many significant projects.

The department also proposes to appoint one more vice chair in wards with at least 35,000 people and communes with at least 25,000 people. This vice chair will be in charge of construction projects.

HCM City’s proposal will be considered and decided by the Prime Minister.
