VietNamNet Bridge – HCM City People's Committee has asked the Government’s permission to appoint another Deputy Chair and to increase its membership to 15 people.

The 15-member committee will include one President, six Vice-Presidents and 8 Commissioners. The People’s Council will decide the assignments of the Vice-Presidents and the Commissioners.
At the district level, the people’s committee will have 11 members, including one President, four Vice-Presidents and 6 Commissioners. The Chair will decide the missions and tasks of the Vice-Presidents and the Commissioners. At the commune, ward and town level, the number is seven, including one Chairman, three Vice-chairs and three Commissioners.
HCM City People’s Committee also wants to have one more Vice Chair for the urban districts with a population of 400,000 or more and the suburban districts with 300,000 people or more (except for the 11 districts that have already had one more vice president). The new vice chairs will be in charge of construction activities.
The city also plans to have one more Vice Chair for the wards with 35,000 people upwards and the communes with 25,000 people or more (except for the 61 wards and communes that have had one more Vice President).
According to HCM City authorities, it is necessary to appoint one more Vice Chair for the districts and communes of rapid urbanization.
