On December 11, the Ho Chi Minh City Police Investigation Agency officially filed charges and issued a temporary arrest warrant for Trinh for “causing environmental pollution.”

Trinh allegedly exploited a plot of land under her control in An Khanh Ward, using it as a site for others to illegally dump and bury waste on a large scale.

The case was first uncovered during a routine patrol by Task Force 363 of the An Khanh Ward Police. Officers stopped a man, T.X.T., transporting about 420kg of waste - mainly tree branches and fresh leaves - on a three-wheeled motorbike to dump at 5/4 Street 11, Quarter 1, An Khanh Ward.

Soon after, the patrol caught another man, H.V.Q., riding a motorbike carrying around 120kg of waste, including leaves, styrofoam, and household trash, also attempting to dispose of it at the same vacant lot.

When questioned, both men admitted to being hired by an unknown man to dump the waste at this location for a fee ranging from 200,000 to 400,000 VND per trip (equivalent to around 8 to 16 USD).

Authorities determined that the land used for dumping was owned and managed by Do Hong Trinh.

Following an investigation, An Khanh Police concluded that Trinh had knowingly permitted others to dump and bury waste on her property over a prolonged period, from October 2024 until the operation was exposed.

Through this activity, she is estimated to have illegally earned approximately 120 million VND (around 4,900 USD).

An environmental assessment conducted in cooperation with various agencies revealed the severity of the crime. The area used for dumping totaled over 2,019 square meters, with an actual buried area exceeding 1,824 square meters. The total volume of illegally buried waste surpassed 2,870 tons.

Authorities confirmed that Trinh’s actions caused significant environmental harm and disrupted urban resource management in the area.
