VietNamNet Bridge – The 13.4km Vo Van Kiet Boulevard, which is the most modern road in HCM City, has become the home for vendors and a garbage ground.

The entire road will be opened for traffic on November 20...

... but at this moment it is occupied by many vendors and mobile markets.

Rubbish is also discharged on the road, though the local environmental and hygiene
company has placed many waste banning signs.

The construction of Vo Van Kiet Boulevard began in January 2005 after
eight years of preparation.

The avenue goes through the districts of 1, 2, 4, 5 and 8, as well as Binh Tan and Binh
Chanh, and it includes the Thu Thiem tunnel which crosses the Saigon River,
the biggest tunnel in Southeast Asia.

The project was expected to finish in February 2008 but has been delayed until early 2010.
The total investment capital for this huge project is around $500 million.
