VietNamNet Bridge - After three times of repair, the East-West Highway, which was built at the cost of hundreds of millions of US dollars, is still severely subsided. The investor has committed to complete the repair in early 2013.

The East-West Highway, the section running from the tunnel across the Saigon River to the Cat Lai overpass of about 6.5 km long been was put into use in November 2011 (it is now named Mai Chi Tho Road). The section from the Provincial Highway 25B (now Dong Van Cong Road) to the Cat Lai intersection was open for traffic from August 2010.

This is the main road for vehicles and container trucks to the port of Cat Lai (District 2), so the traffic density is very high.

As soon as the road was put into use, it was severely damaged. The most serious is the section from the intersection of Luong Dinh Cua - Mai Chi Tho to the intersection of Mai Chi Tho - Dong Van Cong.

The road is seriously sunken, with some sites 10 cm deep. According to some container drivers, they must be very carefully otherwise they may cause an accident.

"Driving through this road I feel like running on a rail. I do not know how they fix it that after a few months, the road is more sunken", Hai - a truck driver says.

All cars must run slowly on the sunken road.

Since it was used, this road has been repaired three times but the subsidence still continues and even gets worse.

The investor promises to finish the repair in early 2013.
