Ho Chi Minh City’s Youth Union Sunday announced a list of 10 Vietnamese outstanding young citizens in 2011, who are working in various fields like business, administrative management, sports, culture and arts, and social activities.


At the awarding ceremony, the city’s Youth Union in collaboration with a fund for supporting young talents awarded trophies and certificates of merit to them.

The Union also gave “promising young faces” titles to 10 other youngsters with the aim of encouraging them to get outstanding achievements in study, labor, and volunteer activities.

This year’s event also saw the presence of familiar young faces like music talent Luu Hong Quang, Nguyen Viet Hoang who won gold medal in International Mathematical competition when he just was 11, and general director of FPT corporation Truong Dinh Anh among others.

Top Ten honored young citizens:

- Pham Tuan Vu, born in 1989, - member of executive board of University of Natural Science’s Student Association and member of executive board of Ho Chi Minh City’s Student Association.

- Dr. Tran Van Tan, born in 1976 – lecturer at Faculty of Mathematics and IT at Hanoi National University of Education.

Tran Nhat Huy, born in 1979, general director of PetroVietnam Gas Ca Mau Company.

Truong Van Tri, born in 1980, hails from Nam Cuong commune, Tien Hai district, Thai Binh northern province.

- Sub lieutenant Nguyen Chi Ninh, born in 1982 – physician at military border post at border gate Tay Trang in the northern Dien Bien province.

- Captain Vuong Trung Dung, born in 1979, deputy chief of police in Lai Chau northern province.

Le Quang Liem, born in 1991, chess grandmaster.

- Ho Thi Hieu Hien, born in 1998, seven-grade in Tay Son junior school, in Hai Chau District in the central province of Danang.

- Hoang Van Ninh, born in 1979, deputy chairman of Xuan Tien hamlet, Bo Trach district, in the central province of Quang Binh.

- Dao Thu Huong, born in 1985, member of Dong Da district’s Blind People Association in Hanoi, and interpreter of NGO Samaritan’s Purse.
