The headquarters building of the HCM City People’s Council and People’s Committee will be open again to visitors during the coming National Day Holiday on September 1 and 2.

Speaking at a Thursday meeting, Chief of Office of the municipal People's Committee Dang Quoc Toan, said that after the National Day Holiday, the venue will be open two days a month on the last Saturday and Sunday.

The building was first open to visitors on the National Reunification (April 30) and May Day (May 1) holiday and attracted 1,500 tourists who previously could only see the city administration’s exterior.

This move is aimed at introducing the city's history of formation and development, contributing to building the image of a friendly and open city administration.

Located at 86 Le Thanh Ton Street in District 1, the Municipal People's Committee and People’s Council building was constructed from 1898 to 1909. It was recognised as a national-level architectural and artistic monument in 2020.

According to Le Truong Hien Hoa, deputy director of the HCM City Department of Tourism, the building was first open to visitors on April 29-30 and received 1,500 visitors, including foreigners.

Hoa added that besides tours of the HCM City People’s Council and People’s Committee, the municipal tourism sector had considered cooperating with travel firms to include architectural tours.
