The city’s Party Committee Secretary Nguyễn Văn Nên on April 17 chaired a meeting of the Steering Committee for activities marking the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and the National Reunification (April 30, 1975 – 2025).
At the meeting, the municipal Party Civil Affairs Committee reported the implementation of Directive 21 of the city’s Party Committee to direct the organisation of activities celebrating the national holidays.
Leaders of departments focused on discussing, analysing, and proposing relevant content to effectively implement the programmes.
As planned, a grand ceremony will be held in the city to mark the national event that has special significance.
The municipal People's Committee has issued a plan to implement exemplary programmes, projects and campaigns in celebration of the national holiday.
That include 55 city-level programmes and projects in the six sectors that have been registered for implementation by 26 agencies and units.
Accordingly, there are 18 programmes, works and projects in the cultural and social field; six in the economic area; 19 in the urban sector; four in the field of science, technology, innovation, and creativity; three in the area of administrative reform; and five in the field of national defense, security, and foreign affairs.
In addition, the municipal People's Committee has directed the city’s Department of Internal Affairs to compile a list of 1,362 grassroots-level projects registered by 105 agencies, units and localities.
Last July, the municipal People’s Committee launched a contest of art compositions.
The contest themed “HCM City, pride of a 50-year epic” aims to look for artworks covering the fields of music, cinema, architecture, dance, fine arts, photography, stage, and literature honoring the historical value of the struggle for national liberation, and the construction and development of a modern and humane city.
It is open for Vietnamese individuals and organisations, and foreigners who are living and working in Việt Nam.
Each participant can submit entries for different categories from now until April 30, 2024. The awards ceremony is scheduled to be held in the second quarter of next year. — VNS
