Those arriving from abroad should only be required to self-monitor their health and use the PC-COVID mobile app while they are in Vietnam, the local media quoted the city’s People’s Committee as saying.

The city’s rationale is that favorable conditions should be created for Vietnamese nationals and foreigners to fly to Vietnam and that the removal of the health declaration requirement at the airport would prevent the arrival lounge from being overcrowded, particularly at peak hours.

Moreover, HCMC and other parts of the country have brought Covid under control.

The proposal came as the Ministry of Health’s Official Dispatch 1265, issued on March 15, forces HCMC Center for Disease Control (HCDC) staff at Tan Son Nhat to ask all passengers arriving from abroad to show both proof of Covid test results and health declarations.

Since the dispatch came out, the arrival lounge has become overcrowded, especially when multiple planes arrived at the same time. The health declaration procedure needs some time to process.
