Ho Chi  Minh City’s Spring Flower Festival 2016 will open at Tao Dan Park in District 1 and Cong Truong Quoc Te Street, near Turtle Lake roundabout in District 3 on February 3 and run until 14, according to the Ho Chi Minh City Green Trees and Park Company.

The annual event features over 3,000 ornamental plants, bonsai, rock gardens, dried trees, grafted stones, cacti, ornamental fish and various rare flowers, such as 20 kg monster Piranha fish, award-wining collections of Koi fishes at the Vietnam Japanese Koi Fish Contest 2015, collections of giant and rare orchids and others.

An entry ticket will be VND20, 000 per person. Children aged 12 and under enter free of charge.

In the opening ceremony, the organizer will give a chance to 1,000 disadvantaged children in the city to enjoy a good time at the festival and offer 1,000 tickets to workers of the city's industrial zones who do not return their hometown for Tet.

Spring Newspaper Festival 2016 opened in HCMC

Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Information and Communications in collaboration with HCMC Press Association and Vietnam Publishers Association opened the 2016 Spring Newspaper Festival on Nguyen Van Binh Street in the central district 1, yesterday evening.

Around 150 press publications and magazines from Ho Chi Minh City and the Central press agencies are being displayed at the event.

On the occasion, the organizers will award 16 best press publications of content and design, including one- first prize, two- second prizes, three- third prizes and ten consolation prizes.

The award-winning press publications are based on the results of voting by readers and examiners

The 2016 Spring Newspaper Festival is scheduled to last until January 31.

"Discovering Vietnamese Tet Festival" program for children

A children program titled “Discovering Vietnamese Tet festival” will be held at Vietnam Museum of Ethnology in Hanoi on January 30, and from February 13-14.

The event will feature cultural characteristics of Central Highlands region, including Chiang tha (Brau); Bôông Bôông, Đing pú (Brau); To rung (Bana); Gongs and Sinus, Klong Put (Xodang/Bana); Giao duyen (Xodang/Bana) and zodiac, calligraphy, Dong Ho paintings.

Participants will have a chance to explore the unique culinary of the Central Highlands region and Thai/Muong people, and playing folk games such as Tiger chases goat, walking on stilts, standing statue, and among.
