The 10,000-sq.m. park was closed for renovation since May, with the cost funded by private businesses, said Lê Quốc Tuấn, deputy chairman of District 5’s People’s Committee.
The park is designed with an open square decorated with coloured light systems, free wifi, and an underground exhibition space so that organisations, universities and schools are able to organise entertainment performances and cultural exchange programmes, Tuấn said.
Music water fountain performances are organised every weekend, holidays and major festivals.
Văn Lang Park used to be considered an unsafe area at night.
Trần Thu Sương, a resident of District 10, said that the park used to be very dark and she saw very few people doing exercises or gathering with friends at night.
Now, it had turned into a square with a colourful music water fountain that attracts many locals, especially young people, Sương said. —VNS
