VietNamNet Bridge - The Ministry of Transport has appointed Mr. Lai Xuan Thanh as the Head of the Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam (CAAV). Previously, the position was assumed by Deputy Minister of Transport Pham Quy Tieu.

Before being appointed as the CAAV head, Thanh served as the agency’s deputy chief.

Minister of Transport Dinh La Thang also appointed Mr. Vo Huy Cuong, Head of the Transport Department,  as the Deputy Head of the CAAV.

Thanh was born in 1963, graduated from the Faculty of International Law of the University of Kiev - Ukraine. Thanh has a Master's degree in state management and took the position of the Deputy Head of the CAAV in 2006.

Earlier, the Ministry of Transport appointed Mr. Nguyen Nhat - former Vice Chairman of Ha Tinh Province People's Committee to the position of director of the Vietnam Maritime Agency.
