VietNamNet Bridge – National Assembly (NA) Chairman, Nguyen Sinh Hung, on September 21 announced the NA Standing Committee’s decision to appoint Nguyen Duc Hien, Vice Chair of the NA Office, as the chief of the NA’s Committee for People’s Aspirations.

Hien, 56, from the central province of Nghe An, a bachelor, is Vice Chair of the NA Office, assistant to the NA Chair and a member of the NA Committee for Social Affairs.

In the first session of the 13th NA in July 2011, the NA Standing Committee nominated Bui Van Cuong, Vice Party Secretary of Gia Lai Province, as the chief of the NA Committee for Social Affairs. After a discussion, the NA nominated another candidate - Nguyen Van Phuc, Vice Chair of the NA Committee for Economics and Budget.

However, both Cuong and Phuc did not win over half of the votes. The position has been vacant since then.
