Since May 28, the Ministry of Health has been negotiating with Zuellig Pharma (which was assigned by Moderna to import and distribute Covid-19 vaccines to the Asia Pacific region, including Vietnam) on the purchase of 5 million doses of Moderna vaccine.

To ensure vaccine supply for Ho Chi Minh City, the Ministry of Health said that it would create the most favorable conditions for HCM City to purchase this batch of vaccines. The Ministry of Health has issued three documents requesting the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City to direct relevant agencies to carry out procedures to purchase the vaccines as soon as possible.

However, as of August 8, the Ministry of Health had not received any information on the progress of vaccine purchase.

The Ministry of Health on August 9 asked the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City to confirm the purchase of the 5 million doses of Moderna vaccine before August 15.

If the city does not want to buy the vaccines, the Ministry of Health will report to the Prime Minister and give the chance to buy 5 million doses of Moderna vaccine to another province.

HCM City receives 600,000 AstraZeneca vaccine doses

Since July 22, HCM City has been allocated 2,595,490 vaccine doses by the Ministry of Health and has administered 2,108,186 doses. It is expected that by August 9, the city will use all the remaining vaccines.
