This is the second successful heart transplant case in Vietnam after the first one at the Hanoi-based Military Hospital 103, which was aided by foreign experts.

 

Bui Duc Phu, director of the Hue Central Hospital in the central city of Hue on March 2 announced that the patient is Tran Mau Duc, 26, from Hue. The heart donator is from another province and wished to be anonymous.

 

By 10 am of the same day, the patient regained consciousness and was able to speak.

 

According to Phu, this surgery was done with the participation of over 100 doctors and medical employees. Fifteen doctors were directly involved in the operation.

 

President Nguyen Minh Triet sent a flower basket to congratulate the doctors.
