Update news heat waves
Vietnam is forecast to suffer the highest temperatures ever recorded in 2020, according to the latest report by the Vietnam Meteorological and Hydrological Administration.
Fifteen forest fires were recorded from June 26-30, ravaging over 100 ha of forest, according to the Vietnam Administration of Forestry under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD)
Provinces in the southern region and the Central Highlands have taken measures to prepare for drought and ensure a stable supply of power as weather forecasts say that the region could face a prolonged heat wave this year.
While heat waves are making life miserable in the country’s south, it is cool in the northwestern upland where temperatures range from 20 to 28 degrees Celsius, so it is a great hideaway for those wanting to escape the hot summer.
All regions in Vietnam are likely to experience higher temperatures and less rain falls between June and August this year compared to the yearly average level, according to the National Centre for Hydrometeorological Forecasting.
VietNamNet Bridge – As a scorching heat wave dries up reservoirs, farmers can do nothing but wait, said Nguyen Thi Nam Linh, a farmer in Quang Nam Province's Dien Ban District.
