According to the Ministry of Defence, the military parade will take place at the Dien Bien Stadium with the participation of over 12,000 people.
Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Nghia, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army, said the military parade is the soul of the commemoration, and was an important assignment demonstrating the historical image and prestige of the Vietnamese army.
He requested thorough plans to ensure logistics, communications, security, and safety while paying great attention to backup plans.
Training will be conducted at the National Military Training Centre 4 in Hanoi from the end of March to mid-April.
From late April to early May, the participating forces are expected to relocate to Dien Bien Phu City for final rehearsals.
On May 7, 1954, the flag of the Vietnamese army was raised on the top of the command tunnel of French General De Castries. All the French troops were captured.
President Ho Chi Minh said that the Dien Bien Phu Victory was a golden milestone in history that directly led to the signing of the Geneva Accords on ending the war and restoring peace in Indochina. It also created the foundation and conditions for the Vietnamese people to secure victory in the resistance war against the US, liberate the South, and reunify the country in 1975.
