According to the High Command of Coast Guard Region 3 (based in the southern city of Vung Tau), on August 7 night, the functional forces of the region detected ship TG 93979 TS in the water 28 nautical miles south of Con Dao Island. The ship was suspected to carry oil without clear origin so it was stopped for checking.

Actually, this vessel carried about 100,000 liters of DO oil without papers proving its origin.

The ship was led by Mr. Ngo Tien Dung (residing in Tan Long ward, My Tho city, Tien Giang province) as captain and 5 other crew members.

At the time of inspection, both the captain and the crew on board were unable to present their professional certificates and the ship was also undocumented under the provisions of law.

The High Command of Coast Guard Region 3 made a record of violation against the captain and escorted the ship to Squadron 33, based in Con Dao Island for investigation in accordance with the law.

Earlier, on July 22, in the water around 50 nautical miles from Hon Khoai Island, a working group of the Department of Operations and Law of the Vietnam Coast Guard conducted an inspection and arrested fishing vessel number TG-91926 TS which showed signs of violation.

The ship had 4 crew members, led by captain Hoang Van Luom (born 1981, residing in An Bien district, Kien Giang province). At the time of inspection, the vessel was transporting about 90,000 liters of DO oil without legal proofs of origin.

The working group of the Department of Operations and Laws made a record of administrative violations, consolidated the original file, escorted the ship and exhibits to the port of Squadron 402 and handed over to the High Command of Coast Guard Region 4 for further investigation, verification and clarification.
