On March 21, the High Command of Coast Guard Region 4 under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Tran Hong, Deputy Chief of the Squadron - Chief of Staff of Squadron 42 of the High Command of Coast Guard Region 4 dispatched ship CSB 6003 of Division 42 of the High Command of Coast Guard Region 4 to carry fresh water and some anti-epidemic equipment to support fishermen on Hon Chuoi island, in Song Doc town, Tran Van Thoi district, Ca Mau province.

At the same time, the working group also propagated necessary information and knowledge for local people to raise their awareness about prevention and control of Covid-19 epidemic, knowledge and law on the sea in general and the Law on Vietnam Coast Guard in particular.

These are meaningful actions to implement the policy and direction of the Party Committee - Head of the High Command of the Coast Guard on supporting people in areas where suffer from saline intrusion, drought and propaganda on Covid-19 epidemic prevention in the spirit of mutual love, upholding the revolutionary ethical qualities of "Uncle Ho's soldiers – the Coast Guard soldiers", in order to help the people of the southwestern provinces overcome the ongoing drought and at the same time preventing and controlling Covid-19 epidemics.

Recently, drought and saline intrusion has become very serious in southwestern provinces such as Ben Tre, Long An ... Salt water has covered most of the area, making many regions lack of fresh water, threatening production and daily life of local people.

Lieutenant Colonel Tran Hong, Deputy Chief of the Navy, Chief of Staff of the Squadron 42, said that, in the face of drought and saltwater intrusion in the southwestern region, the unit has actively prepared all aspects, actively exploited and treated water sources and at the same time, contacted the local authorities to carry water to islands that lacked fresh water.

The timely support of the Vietnam Coast Guard helped people on Hon Chuoi Island overcome extreme natural disasters and epidemics to continue to cling to the island, to live on the land and to develop household economy, to firmly defend the sovereignty over the sea and islands of the country.

In the coming days, the High Command of Coast Guard Region 4 will continue to coordinate with localities in the southwestern provinces to dispatch forces to perform the task of providing drinking water, fresh water to help fishermen cope with drought.
