“The Old Dreams” is the name of a solo exhibition by artist Himiko Nguyen at the Visual Himiko Café in HCMC’s District 10.

Then show features about 7,000 paper cranes folded by the foil of tobacco packs that she collected on the streets. Cranes are arranged into cute and eye-catching interior ornaments. Cranes symbolize the dreams that Himiko has had the arts projects of hers and other artists’.

Visual artist Nguyen Kim Hoang (Himiko Nguyen) born in 1976 in Vietnam graduated from University of Fine Arts with major in Fine Art and Sculpture in 2005. She has been running the first alternative art space in HCMC named Himiko Visual Café since November, 2005.

She has held 45 personal exhibitions for young artists, more than 15 workshops to exchange and meet artists in this art space. She has also participated in many group exhibitions since being a student in 2001 such as Performance of NIPPAF 06 Summer: Asian artists meet South Americans (2006); Cheongju Complex Cultural Center, South Korea - Asian Artists in Residence Program (2007); IFA Gallery, Berlin, Germany - “Connect: Art Scene Vietnam” (2009).

She also has six solo exhibitions at her own café.

The exhibition runs till December 31 at the café, 324bis, Dien Bien Phu Street in District 10.
