VietNamNet Bridge – The Ha Noi Traffic Police have dealt with some 18,000 violations since August 1, six times higher than HCM City and 10 times higher than Da Nang.

The most common violations involved driving in the wrong lane, ignoring traffic lights, and not wearing helmets, the Zing news online newspaper reported.

The statistics was released yesterday (Aug 11) by the Ministry of Public Security’s Traffic Police Department after 10 days of the launching of Government decree 46/2016/NĐ-CP.

As per the statistics, between August 1 and 10, the traffic police dealt with more than 37,300 violations across the country, seized 174 cars and nearly 4,500 motorbikes. Fine amounting to VND20 billion (US$896,000) were handed out.

Senior Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Ngoc Me, head of the ministry’s Mobile Police Regiment, said since the beginning of this month, the mobile police force had also conducted patrolling and giving fines to people riding motorbikes, electric bikes and bicycles without helmets.
