Under a recent decision, the Steering Committee for the Restructuring of State Agencies in Ho Chi Minh City was formed, with Phan Van Mai named as its Chairman.

Van Thi Bach Tuyet, head of the Organization Commission of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, has been appointed as the standing Vice Chair.

The committee also includes six other vice chairs, comprising the city’s deputy chairpersons and the Director of the Department of Home Affairs. Additionally, it features 39 members, including leaders from Thu Duc City, various districts, and departments. A 20-member working group will assist the committee, along with another group of 25 members focusing on policy and regulatory matters.

Mandate of the steering committee

The committee’s primary responsibility is to restructure administrative organizations, specialized agencies, and public service units in the city.

It is tasked with creating a comprehensive plan to streamline the city’s bureaucratic apparatus, which will be submitted to the appropriate authorities for approval.

The committee will also oversee workforce restructuring, including reducing personnel numbers and reorganizing the composition of public servants and employees based on job requirements.

Additionally, it will propose policies and regulations for managing personnel after the restructuring, in line with government directives and relevant ministry guidelines.
