Ho Chi Minh City Police, in coordination with relevant agencies, have received 33 Vietnamese citizens deported from the United States.
On May 12, Ho Chi Minh City Police said they had worked with Noi Bai International Airport Border Police in Hanoi and other authorities to complete procedures for receiving 33 Vietnamese citizens deported from the US.
The operation was part of a broader series of citizen repatriation efforts as illegal migration and unauthorized overseas labor activities continue to remain complicated.

According to official statistics, in the first five months of 2026 alone, Ho Chi Minh City received hundreds of deported and repatriated individuals, mainly from the US and Cambodia.
Authorities said the main causes behind the situation stem from limited legal awareness among some citizens, many of whom were lured into illegal migration networks or used fraudulent travel documents.
At the same time, many countries have tightened immigration controls and strengthened enforcement against visa and residency violations.
Beyond receiving and processing the deportees, Ho Chi Minh City Police have also implemented support measures to help the returnees stabilize their lives.
Authorities are coordinating with relevant agencies to provide legal guidance, assist with residency registration, renew identification documents, and complete necessary administrative procedures.
Support has also included healthcare assistance, temporary accommodation for difficult cases, and efforts to reconnect deported citizens with family members.
For individuals without clear residency information or guarantors, police task forces will coordinate with the Department of Health and local authorities to place them in social assistance centers for temporary care and accommodation.

Ho Chi Minh City Police’s Immigration Management Division also urged relatives of deported citizens - particularly in cases where contact has not yet been established - to promptly reach out to the division or local police authorities overseeing social assistance centers for guidance on sponsorship procedures.
Authorities advised citizens to carefully study the laws and immigration regulations of destination countries before traveling abroad for study, work, or settlement purposes.
Participating in illegal migration schemes or unauthorized labor activities not only exposes individuals to arrest, deportation, and permanent entry bans, but can also negatively affect the image of the Vietnamese community internationally.
Officials further encouraged citizens to comply fully with legal exit procedures and maintain regular contact with Vietnamese diplomatic missions overseas to receive protection and support when necessary.
