Director of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, Bui Ta Hoang Vu, welcomes the first international visitors to the city from France on January 1, 2018


The first foreign visitors to the city are expected to arrive at 7.35 am from Frankfurt City while the first domestic visitors will land at 8.15 am from Danang City.

Ho Chi Minh City's Department of Tourism cooperated with Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air and the Tan Son Nhat Airport to hold a ceremony to welcome and give presents to the first visitors to the city, which is an annual activity to show the city's hospitality and promote tourism services. 

These visitors will be presented with free air tickets and newly-opened tours which were launched to celebrate the 320th anniversary of the city.

Ho Chi Minh City enjoyed a robust growth in tourism development in 2018 with revenues of VND140 trillion (USD6.1 billion), or 21.55% increase compared to last year figure. The city received 36.5 million visitors including 7.5 million foreign tourists which is an increase of 17.38% against 2017 number.

The city's tourism sector sets a target of earning VND150 trillion and welcoming 8.5 million foreign tourists in 2019.
