Upon addressing the launching ceremony, Nguyen Van Dung, vice chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, emphasized that the tourism week is anticipated to encourage more residents and tourists to explore the culture, history, and beautiful landscapes around the city.

With green and sustainable tourism being an inevitable trend, the southern metropolis is striving to fulfil the goal of becoming a green and environmentally friendly destination, he said, adding that a series of practical activities will be held to encourage the tourism ecosystem.

These efforts will seek to enhance the application of green solutions, develop responsible tourism, create competitive advantages, and improve the general quality of growth for the sector, he noted.

Following the launching ceremony, a wide range of response activities were held in Thu Duc city and various districts, including entertainment activities such as folk arts, calligraphy, cultural exchanges, along with the debut of new tourism products.

Most notably, an interesting interactive activity is underway from December 4 to December 10 by drawing the largest “Doodle” about Ho Chi Minh City’s tourism in Vietnam at the city’s Post Office, destinations in Thu Duc City, and across 21 districts.

Doodle art is a free creative diagram inspired by culture and tourism, aiming to strengthen linkages among art, culture, and tourism. Indeed, it is hoped that this will help to encourage keen interest among visitors to explore local destinations.

At the event, tourism businesses also unveiled incentive programmes aimed at stimulating tourism demand and introducing their tourism products at discounts ranging between 10% and 55%.
