The 2025 edition of the national concert Things Everlasting will feature both familiar voices and first-time performers, bringing fresh energy to the long-running event.

This year marks the 80th anniversary of Vietnam’s August Revolution and National Day on September 2, as well as the first time the concert will be held at the Ho Guom Theatre instead of the Hanoi Opera House.

Debut performers include Ha An Huy, Dinh Trang, Bach Tra, Viet Danh, Luong Khanh Nhi, and Phan Phuc. Returning stars Hong Nhung, Tung Duong, and Lan Anh, who have been absent in recent years, will join the lineup. Lan Anh will sing Tieng Hat Giua Rung Pac Bo in tribute to President Ho Chi Minh on the 135th anniversary of his birth, while Hong Nhung will perform Bai Ca Ha Noi by Vu Thanh, and Pham Khanh Ngoc will sing Nha Trang Mua Thu Lai Ve.

Tung Duong expressed pride in returning after two years: “Singing on National Day, especially in a concert that honors our country’s history, fills me with pride. I sing not just as an artist but as a Vietnamese citizen who wants to contribute to our nation’s prosperity.”

As tradition, the concert will open precisely at 2 p.m. on September 2 with Quoc Ca (Vietnam’s national anthem) by Van Cao, marking the exact hour President Ho Chi Minh declared independence in 1945. The program, curated by music director Tran Manh Hung and VietNamNet, will feature the Sun Symphony Orchestra under the baton of French conductor Olivier Ochanine.

Audiences can expect a journey through Vietnam’s regions via music, from Hanoi to Saigon, with pieces such as Huong Ve Ha Noi, Gui Em Chiec Non Bai Tho, Gio Long Bon Phuong, and Hue - Sai Gon - Ha Noi.

Cultural diversity will also be highlighted with works like Song Dak Krong Mua Xuan Ve, Cham folk song Thei Mai, and Hue court music. The finale will unite all singers in Mot Vong Viet Nam by Tung Duong and Nhu Co Bac Ho Trong Ngay Vui Dai Thang by Pham Tuyen, celebrating the joy of independence.

Things Everlasting (Điều Còn Mãi) is an annual national concert launched in 2009 by VietNamNet to celebrate Vietnam’s National Day on September 2.

The concept was to create a high-caliber classical and symphonic music program performed on the afternoon of September 2, blending orchestral works, chamber music, vocal performances, and patriotic compositions. The concert traditionally opens exactly at 2 p.m. with Quốc Ca (Vietnam’s national anthem) to commemorate the moment in 1945 when President Ho Chi Minh declared independence at Ba Dinh Square.

Over the years, Things Everlasting has become a cultural tradition, attracting top Vietnamese vocalists, opera singers, and instrumentalists, alongside international conductors and musicians. Its repertoire is carefully curated to honor Vietnamese history, landscapes, and people while introducing classical works and modern compositions to a wider audience.

From 2009 to 2024, the event was held annually at the Hanoi Opera House. In 2025, for the first time, it moved to the Ho Guom Theatre and introduced new artists to refresh its format while maintaining its patriotic and cultural mission.
