After years of operation as a tourist attraction, the Hoang A Tuong Mansion, a national historical monument in Bac Ha district, Lao Cai province, has been restored and enhanced by the Lao Cai Department of Tourism.

The restoration project for Hoang A Tuong Mansion, led by the Lao Cai Department of Tourism, began in December 2023 and was scheduled for completion by October 2024. The project had a total investment of 11.9 billion VND, with construction costs accounting for 9.3 billion VND.

As reported by VietNamNet in late October, most of the restoration and enhancement work on the mansion is complete. The architectural features of the mansion have been preserved, but the building's once yellow façade has been repainted in white, surprising many visitors.

Mr. Ha Van Thang, Director of the Lao Cai Department of Tourism, stated that the last restoration of the Hoang A Tuong Mansion took place in 2007. Given the deterioration of several sections, this latest round of refurbishment aims to enhance visitor experiences and promote local tourism.

According to Mr. Thang, the project followed proper procedures and protocols. Specifically, the change in paint color was decided after a symposium where experts from both within and outside the country, as well as local elders, shared their opinions. Based on historical records and discussions, the current color was chosen as it closely resembles the original look of the mansion.
