Hoang Nam enters Men Futures F2 quarterfinals
Vietnamese tennis player, Ly Hoang Nam, defeated Japanese rival, Makoto Ochi, 2-0 in the second round at the International Tennis Federation (ITF) Men’s Futures Tennis Tournament in Thailand on April 29.
In the first set, Nam beat Makoto Ochi (placing 1,549th in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) rankings) 7-5.
In the second set, he played with confident at the beginning and then claimed the 6-2 victory.
Asian women’s beach volleyball championship opens in Ha Long
The 2015 Tuan Chau-Ha Long Asian Women’s Beach Volleyball Championship kicked off on April 30 at the Tuan Chau International Entertainment Arena in the northern coastal city of Ha Long, Quang Ninh province.
The annual tournament, which this year is celebrating the Ha Long-Quang Ninh Tourism Week 2015, is one of two main events of the Asian Beach Volleyball Federation.
The event attracted the participation of 18 teams from 10 countries and territories: Japan, China, Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand, Kazakhstan, Singapore, Thailand, Vanuatu and Vietnam.
Fans will have a chance to witness games until May 3.-
Annual cycling tourney crosses finishing line
The 27th annual Ho Chi Minh City Television Cycling Tournament concluded on April 30, with riders taking on the final 165km stage from Bao Loc city in Lam Dong province to Ho Chi Minh City’s Thong Nhat Square.
The winner of the final stage was Nguyen Quoc Dinh from the Ben Tre province team, followed by Nguyen Hoang Thai from team Dorgalic Dong Thap and Ho Hoang Son from Thanh Son Hoa Nong.
The tourney’s yellow jersey went to Nguyen Truong Tai of team VUS Ho Chi Minh City. The second and third places were secured by Ho Van Phuc from team ADC Vinh Long Television and Nguyen Hoang Giang from team Hat ngoc troi An Giang.
Meanwhile, Le Van Duan from team VUS HCM City won the sprinter’s green jersey. The red jersey for mountain biking was awarded to Nguyen Tan Hoai of team Pharmaceutical Domesco Dong Thap.
Hat ngoc troi An Giang was the overall team winner, followed by Military Region 7 and Domesco Dong Thap.
This year’s cycling tournament began in Hanoi on April 11, drawing the participation of 12 teams. It included 19 stages over a total distance of more than 2,000km.
