Hoang Thi Tinh participated in the Lima Panamerican Open 2024, held on June 21-22 in Peru. This tournament is part of the ranking points system, which determines the official qualifications for the 2024 Paris Olympics and is the final tournament in the Olympic points system for Judo.
The Vietnamese athlete, ranked 98th in the world, triumphed in two matches against Diaz Martina of Chile (ranked 159th) and Solis Jacqueline of Guatemala (65th), advancing to the final match of the women's 48kg weight class.
In the final, Hoang Thi Tinh defeated Mauritius athlete Priscilla Morand (43rd) with an Ippon, winning the gold medal. This achievement secured her enough points to officially qualify for the 2024 Olympics according to the continental quota.
Nguyen Manh Hung, President of the Vietnam Judo Federation, announced that in response to this victory, the Federation awarded Hoang Thi Tinh 30 million VND and her coach Nguyen Duy Khanh 20 million VND.
To date, 13 Vietnamese athletes have officially qualified for the 2024 Olympics. This includes Nguyen Thi That (cycling), Nguyen Huy Hoang (swimming), Trinh Thu Vinh and Le Thi Mong Tuyen (shooting), Trinh Van Vinh (weightlifting), Nguyen Thi Huong (canoeing), Pham Thi Hue (rowing), Nguyen Thuy Linh and Le Duc Phat (badminton), Vo Thi Kim Anh and Ha Thi Linh (boxing), Le Quoc Phong (archery), and Hoang Thi Tinh (judo).
