The naturalised Vietnamese footballer, born in Nigeria, is expected to help the Thai club improve its result in both domestic and regional matches.
Samson, once Samson Kayode Olaleye, has played football for nine years in Việt Nam.
The 29-year-old footballer began his career in Việt Nam with Quảng Ninh Coal in 2007-2008 and Đồng Tháp in 2009-2011, before he was touted for a move to Spanish giants Atletico Madrid, a move that was held up over issues concerning the forward’s contract.
Ultimately, he returned to Việt Nam, where he has played for Hà Nội since 2012.
Samson has become a star of the national premier league, scoring 139 goals in nine years, beating the old record of 112 goals set by striker Lê Công Vinh before he retired.
Samson won the best scorer award in the V.League in 2013 with 22 goals and in 2014 with 23 goals. He helped Hà Nội win the league in 2013 and 2016. He was also part of the Ha Noi team that lifted National Cup in 2012, 2015 and 2016. – VNS
