VietNamNet Bridge - For the first time, Hoi An has a public bus route in the ancient town, passing through tourist attractions like Tra Que vegetable village, An Bang beach, Cua Dai beach and seven schools. The buses run on compressed natural gas (CNG).

On the route Cua Dai - Tran Hung Dao - Hai Ba Trung - Lac Long Quan - Cua Dai there are 10 bus stops, including Cua Dai Beach, Ginger Spa, Son Pho Park, Hoi An Hotel, White Lanterns restaurant, Le Dinh Tham intersection, Tra Que Vegetable Village, An Bang Beach, Agribank Resort and Volcano Club.

The bus route operates on a trial basis, from 8am to 9pm, with 53 trips. On the days of trial, the service is free and the passengers are encouraged to contribute opinion on the service.

The project is implemented by Hoi An authorities under the sponsorship of the Japan Global Environmental Fund.

CNG, considered a clean fuel, consists of compressed methane and ethane. The fuel has a high octane rating, which means it can be highly compressed without spontaneously igniting. It vaporizes in the air without catching fire, thereby minimizing the risk of an explosion.

CNG is also resistant to corrosion, which increases the life of the engine.

More than 10 years ago, Hoi An began building the streets for pedestrians and non-motor vehicles in the old town in a certain number of hours during the day. Starting in 2013, Hoi An is also the only city in Vietnam organizing the event "smokeless day" in September every year. This is the main event of the European Traffic Week, a movement held in more than 2,000 cities.

The city of Hoi An has encouraged public servants to go to work by bicycle, restricting the use of motorcycles and automobiles.
