Speaking with VietNamNet on November 27, Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra clarified that the Ministry of Home Affairs and relevant agencies are focusing on streamlining administrative structures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness, following directives from the Politburo and General Secretary To Lam.

The ongoing efforts align with the resolution of the 13th Central Committee, which describes the restructuring of administrative systems as "a revolutionary task requiring unified understanding and action throughout the Party and political system."

According to Minister Tra, these efforts are being implemented at the central level first. The reorganization of provincial-level administrative units will follow at a later stage, with no current directive for immediate provincial or municipal mergers.

Vu Dang Minh, Chief of Office and spokesperson for the Ministry of Home Affairs, emphasized that all plans regarding administrative restructuring are in the research and preparation phase and classified as confidential. Any dissemination of inaccurate information online violates regulations on protecting state secrets.

“Anyone found in violation will be dealt with according to the law,” Minh warned, adding that the Ministry has requested the Ministry of Public Security and cybersecurity authorities to investigate and address the spread of misinformation, which could negatively impact public sentiment.
