VietNamNet Bridge - Defending champions Vietnam were surprised to a 2-0 defeat today by the underdog Philippines at the AFF Suzuki Cup in Hanoi.
Chris Greatwich took the Philippines to the 1-0 lead with his opening goal in the 38th minute. In the second half, Phil Younghusband doubled it to 2-0 in the 79th minute.
The result marks a milestone for the Philippines as this is their first win over Vietnam in history.
The result also drives the Philippines to top the group with 4 points, followed by Singapore and hosts Vietnam at third with 3 points.
In the last round of the group on December 8, hosts Vietnam will face Singapore and the Philippines to take on the already-eliminated Myanmar after two straight losses.
