On November 17, the Taiwanese authorities detected and confiscated 229kg of heroin worth $300 million which was hidden in 12 speakers transported from HCM City, on a flight of China Airlines (Taiwan).

It is abnormal that such a huge amount of heroin could pass several stages of strict control at Tan Son Nhat Airport. Deputy PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc has instructed relevant bodies to investigate the case.

At present, the investigating agencies have identified the way of this amount of heroin. Accordingly, the heroin originated from China and it was shipped into Vietnam by road.

A group of heroin traffickers hired a hotel on Pasteur Road, District 3 in HCM City to pack heroin in 12 speakers. They then took the speakers to the warehouse of the Tan Son Nhat Cargo Service Co.l Ltd in Tan Binh district to export to Taiwan.

The transport dealer is Le Hoa Industry and Trade Co., Ltd base din District 1, Ho Chi Minh City. The heroin was declared as dangerous goods.

According to a source, the screening machine worth nearly $1.2 million at the Tan Son Nhat Cargo Service Co.l Ltd did not work at that time so the heroin was not detected and it was successfully transported to Taiwan.

However, the police are still investigating why that huge amount of heroin could pass Tan Son Nhat Airport to go to Taiwan.
