VietNamNet Bridge – The finals of HCM City Television (HTV)'s annual singing contest for senior and junior high school students begins in HCM City today, July 20.

Tieng Ca Hoc Duong (School Singing) will feature five shows of songs on topics including country, family, school, teachers, and friends.

Elimination of candidates will begin at the end of the second round until two males and two females remain for the grand final.

In the finale on August 6 at the HCM City Television Theatre, contestants will perform two songs along with celebrities and back-up dancers.

The entire show will be broadcast live on HTV9.

School Singing was first aired by HTV in 2006 to provide healthy entertainment for young people during the summer.

They provided an occasion for teens to meet each and showcase their talents.

This year's contest saw nearly 1,300 contestants aged between 13 and 18 from around the country taking part in preliminary selection rounds in HCM City, Da Nang, and Ha Noi earlier this month.
