Autumn and Winter festivals' programmes at the Huế Festival 2023 have been planned with many activities that are expected to lure both local and foreign visitors.

Speaking at an event on July 26, Nguyễn Thanh Bình, permanent vice chairman of Thừa Thiên Huế Province People's Council, announced that 20 main events would be around the city during these festivals.

The Autumn Festival, from July to September, will have 12 events including a fine arts exhibition, an áo dài (traditional long dress) festival, traditional boat racing on the Hương River, and a photography competition.

The Winter Festival will be from October to December with eight key events. Among them, Healthcare Tourism Week and an international music festival are the focuses.

Tourists to the former royal city also have chances to enjoy a music performance, a heritage painting contest, and a programme of "Winter Tales of Huế".

The Huế Festival 2023 is designed as a four-season festival in order to organise a series of festive activities throughout the year, promoting the unique values ​​of Huế and Vietnamese culture, and showing scenic spots, spiritual tourism and local cultural activities to lure tourists.

Vice chairman Bình said Huế Festival 2023 would be professionally organised with the joint participation of local authorities, residents, businesses and organisations.

He added that the Huế Festival has made a good impression with the public and visitors for years. It has step by step converted Huế into a city synonymous with festivities.

The Huế Festival 2023 organisers also signed a VNĐ1 billion (US$42,100) sponsorship contract with the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) on July 26. — VNS
