The authorities in Hue City have started to restore an old wooden house for tourism.
The garden house of Doan Kim Khanh on 145 Van Xuan Street, Kim Long Ward, was built in the 20th century.
It is highly regarded for cultural values with the old wooden beams. Some details have been changed in order to meet the modern lives.
After over 100 years and lack of funding, the house has shown signs of deterioration.
Hue garden houses management and protection board, Hue garden houses protection and value promotion fund and the house owner attended the inauguration ceremony to restore the house on September 20. The project is estimated to cost VND600m (USD26,400).
This is also the 8th project of the programme to protect and promote Hue garden houses, and the 6th project in 2017.
According to Tran Song, vice chairman of Hue People's Committee, the garden house will help attract tourists and enrich the historical and cultural sites.
