VietNamNet Bridge – The tomb of King Minh Mang or Ta Tung Tu relic, which belongs to the Hue ancient capital relic, is under restoration at the cost of over VND7 billion ($350,000).
The restoration began on August 11 by the Hue Relic Preservation Centre and the Central Region Construction Science Institute. A small part of the funding ($25,000) comes from the World Monuments Foundation (WMF).
The tomb was built under the reign of King Thieu Tri (1840-1847), including Sung An palace where worships King Minh Mang and the queen, Ta Tung Tu and Huu Tung Tu as the temples where worship King Minh Mang’s meritorious mandarins.
The tomb seriously downgraded during wars. The Sung An palace and Huu Tung Tu temple were restored in the 1990s. Ta Tung Tu alone has been damaged, causing dangers for visitors.
The ongoing project focuses on restoring Ta Trung Tu, which is scheduled to complete in one year.
