The competition will take place over ten consecutive Saturdays, featuring the voices of the top 12 candidates selected out of 70 entrants from across the country.
The contest will be broadcast live on Vietnam Television Channels 2, 4 and 6.
This year’s jury will include musician Nguyen Hai Phong, singer Tung Duong and writer Phan Huyen Thu.
Winners of the two top prizes voted by the audience and the jury will take home VND50 million while the winner of the Most Promising Singer award will receive VND30 million.
The singing contest has been held biennially by Vietnam Television since 2004 to promote music across the country and seek new faces for the Vietnamese musical stage.
