VietNamNet Bridge - Nearly 200 traders and building workers surrounded the Phuoc Son Gold Company in the central province of Quang Nam yesterday, December 26, to claim debt payments.

On the morning and at noon on December 26, hundreds of traders in the town of Kham Duc and staff of the Quang An Construction Co.,Ltd. - the main contractor for the construction works of the Phuoc Son Gold Company Limited in Phuoc Duc commune, Phuoc Son district surrounded the company’s gold mining factory.

The factory’s guards closed the gate and tried to prevent these people from flocking into the factory. As a result, workers inside the factory did not receive their lunch.

The traders and construction workers used hammers and axes to break the gate and made tents in front of the gate. They also had lunch on the spot.

Colonel Dao Quang, chief police officer of Phuoc Son district said that he sent policemen to the scene to maintain security and advised the lenders to not act spontaneously.

"This afternoon the gold company did not report the incident to the police. Currently many people have agreed to leave but more than 10 people were determined to stay. We assigned some police officers to stay there to maintain social security," Quang added.

According to the representative of Quang An Construction Company, one of the creditors, the gold company owes Quang An and Quang An owes traders so both the traders and the construction company surrounded the gold firm to claim debt payment.
