At 5.30am on March 28, Hanoi police stopped for inspection -- a coach that runs on the route from the northern border province of Quang Ninh to Hanoi. At that time the bus was running on Pham Van Dong Road, with about 40 passengers on board.

At the time of inspection, police found hundreds of iPhone 4’s and many components hidden in the car.

A police official who directly participated in the inspection said the smuggled iPhones were well camouflaged. The vehicle owner installed two secret boxes beneath the floor of the car to hide the smuggled goods. It took the police up to three hours to find the secret boxes.

All the iPhones had no bills and certificates of origin.

The driver - Nguyen Van Son, 41, and the assistant driver - Duong Van Huy, 28, both from Hai Duong Province were arrested for investigation.

According to the police, this is the biggest iPhone smuggling case that has been discovered in Hanoi.
