Preparations for the event, which will coincide with the Hung Kings’ death anniversary and Hung King Temple Festival, have been completed, according to the local authorities.
Earlier, the International Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage on December 6 officially recognized Hung King’s veneration ritual as an intangible cultural heritage of humankind.
Legends say about the rule of 18 Hung Kings’ dynasties during the first period of Vietnamese history between 2879-258 BC.
The first Hung King was said to be the eldest of 100 sons of the dragon lord Lac Long Quan and the mountain fairy Au Co.
The Hung Kings worshipping rituals are closely related to the worship of ancestors that is a time-honored tradition in Vietnam and an important part of people’s spiritual life.
